Mehta took you on a trip to Paris inspired by the musical ‘Irma la
Douce’ and the loveable good-time girl of the romantic city of
Paris.
It was a riot of prints, embellishments and fabrics in
a sharply cut collection. The look traversed from the late 1930s to the 1970s
with crisply styled jackets, flowing tunic shirts and detailed trousers with
mix-and-match options.
The colour palette moved from sultry dark
tones like steel grey and brown to yellow, red, blue, green and touches of plum
and purple and, yes, black and white.
The fabrics were voile,
cotton, silk and jersey.
The bias draped jersey tops with glittering
placement embroidery and sexy shorts, the billowing blouses with minute pleats
or pin tucks, the woven or pleated bubble minis, the crossover cowl front
sheaths, the simple printed minis and sack dresses, the smocks and embellished
necklines, and the long one-shoulder black and printed gowns caught your eye.
And in tune with the theme the showstopper was Rohit Verma in drag -
in a sultry red printed georgette gown with a flowing scarf.
